Just steps away from the iconic Galata Tower, this hands-on workshop invites you to try your hand at ebru — the centuries-old Turkish art of paper marbling — set in a bright, spacious studio with beautifully designed interiors. No previous experience is required — our friendly instructor will guide you through every step. You'll start with a short introduction to the technique and materials, then watch as your instructor demonstrates how color comes to life on water. Using special brushes and tools, you'll drop paint onto a specially thickened water surface and guide it into a pattern, before carefully transferring your design onto paper. Because the result depends on the natural movement of water and paint, no two pieces are ever exactly alike — every artwork is a one-of-a-kind creation. This standard experience covers one sheet of paper and takes about 10–15 minutes, making it a quick and memorable creative stop during your time in Istanbul. Your finished piece needs about an hour to dry safely; once ready, it's rolled and packed into a protective tube, perfect for traveling home. If you'd like to take the experience further, additional paper pieces can be added for an extra fee, and ebru patterns can even be applied to items like fans, scarves, tote bags, wallets, or bookmarks on request — a lovely way to create a more personal, one-of-a-kind souvenir. This experience is perfect for solo travelers, couples, friends, and families. Children aged 5 and above are welcome to join with adult supervision.
